Happy (almost) Independence Day! I hope you are all celebrating the holiday and enjoying a nice break with family and friends. As with most holidays, July 4th is known for heavy foods such as hamburgers, hot dogs, and cupcakes. Overeating these foods (especially in this heat!) leaves us feeling sluggish and bloated and may not pair well with our fitness goals. While parties are not always the healthiest occasions, this doesn’t have to be the case! Here are a couple of fun, simple, and deliciously healthy July 4th treats to keep you festive and fit.
Use stemless wine glasses. Line the bottom with cut up strawberries and blueberries. Add the next layer: vanilla Greek yogurt. Continue layering, and top with the red and blue berries. Yum!

Choose your favorite red, white, and blue fruits (our favorites are strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, black berries, and bananas). You can even use whipped cream for the white, but don't overdo it! Arrange on a large party platter to look like the stars and stripes. Delicious and fun!
Red, White, and Blue Bites
Using a cookie cutter, cut out watermelon in the shape of stars. Sprinkle blueberries and feta cheese on top. For some added flavor, top each with a mint leaf. Enjoy!
